Ken Yan (b.1980, Taipei) is a photographer, a teacher, and a musician based in London, Canada. Ken was raised in Taipei, Taiwan for the first 10 years of his life before relocating to Canada with his family.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen's University, Kingston. In 2006 he received a Human Resources Post Graduate Certification from Seneca College, Toronto, and in 2011 graduated from Ryerson University's Photography program. Soon after entering the field of photography Ken was recognized by winning the Hamish Kippen Excellence in Arts Award.
Ken has been published in numerous papers and articles, and has work shown in many public spaces in and around Toronto. Ken is also very much involved in charity functions and volunteers in various events such as World Pride 2014, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the Willow Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, Terry Fox, and many more.
Works from portraiture, fashion, product, and event photography to more personal portfolios of nature, travel, and documentary, Ken maintains a strong foundation in delicately balancing the focus of the image with negative space.
